A/W2004 Number (N)ine "Give Peace A Chance" Patchwork Pain Denim

This has to be one of the best pairs of Number (N)ine jeans Takahiro Miyashita has ever designed.

From his iconic Autumn/Winter 2004 “Give Peace a Chance” collection, which was heavily influenced by the political situation at the time, especially the Iraq War and the Bush administration.

The jeans feature beautiful patchwork details with slogans like “God”, “Love” and “Power to the People”, reflecting the anti-war message behind the collection. These slogans were also seen on multiple T-shirts throughout the season’s runway show.

I just love how Takahiro combined all these political references with his signature distressed and patched-up denim designs. The whole collection has such a strong punk and protest influence, and these jeans capture that perfectly imo.

Definitely one of my favorite Number (N)ine collections ever, and this pair is easily one of the highlights for me.
