S/S20 Undercover Cindy Sherman "Smoking" Sweatshirt
Grail.
This Undercover sweatshirt from Autumn/Winter 2020 features the iconic “Smoking Girl” self-portrait by Cindy Sherman, which was seen multiple times on the runway.
Sherman is one of the most influential photographers of all time, known for staging conceptual self-portraits where she transforms into different female characters. Her work explores identity and how women are portrayed in media and society.
This image is part of her famous Untitled Film Stills series, a set of black-and-white photographs inspired by classic 1950s–60s films, where she recreates stereotypical female roles like the ingénue or lonely housewife. Even though she appears in every image, the works are not meant to be traditional self-portraits, but rather a critique of these roles.
Also comes with a super cool embroidered back spellout, as well as sleeve detailing, one of the coolest neck labels I have ever seen, and a beautiful fit.
